I am a Professor at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Toronto. I received my BA in Linguistics from the University of Buenos Aires and my PhD in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Minnesota. My research focuses on sound change and categorization and the second language acquisition of variable phonetic parameters. I published an edited volume on Argentine Spanish in 2013 (Perspectivas teóricas y experimentales sobre el español de la Argentina, Iberoamericana, w/C. Rodríguez Louro), and Second Language speech: An Introduction (w/ P. Escudero, & J. Steele) with Cambridge University Press in 2015. In recent years, I have been working on several SSHRC and UofT supported projects, alone and in collaboration with colleagues in French, Linguistics and Speech and Language pathology. My most recent SSHRC-funded project focused on the acquisition of L2 English intonation (w/ M. Ortega-Llebaria, A. Johns, and J.I. Hualde) by Spanish, Mandarin and Inuktitut speakers. I am also collaborating with A. Kochetov and J. Steele on an electropalatographic study of assimilatory patterns in English, French and Spanish as first and second languages.

Here's an updated version of my CV
